History

The Yogi Bear Show

2010 Yogi Bear film

Ranger Jones appeared in the 2010 film, Yogi Bear, and was played by T. J. Miller.[1] Unlike his character on the cartoon show, he is "dumb-but-not-in-a-funny-way," according to the Buffalo News.[2] Jones is also "overly ambitious".[3] When Mayor Brown says he would have Jones be the head ranger if the 100th anniversary of Jellystone failed, Jones tricks Yogi Bear into ruining the park. Jones then became the head ranger, but later on helps Ranger Smith save the park. He wore a traditional ranger costume (other than wearing shorts instead of pants), including the hat.

Miller was cast in the part after several interviews and an improvised video audition.[4][5] TV Guide conducted an interview with Miller about his role as Jones.[6]
