Mae Flexer

Mae Flexer is an American politician from Connecticut. A Democrat, she is a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives representing the state's 44th district, which includes parts of Killingly and Plainfield, as well as Sterling.

Flexer has lived in Killingly for almost her entire life. Flexer graduated from Killingly High School, and then went on to earn a degree from Quinebaug Valley Community College. She also completed her BA at UCONN in Political Science.

She was elected a state representative in 2008, defeating Republican Angeline Kwasny by 3,136 votes.[1] She is currently one of the youngest state representatives in Connecticut.[2]

Flexer began her political career early, jumping into budget battles in town while still in high school. Flexer joined her Democratic Town Committee when Flexer was 18, and by the age of 23 she was the youngest person in the state ever elected Town Committee Chairwoman. Flexer went on to work as a field organizer for both the Courtney and Sullivan campaigns. Flexer also worked 6 sessions at the capitol in various roles, including the Judiciary Committee and in the Legislative Commissioner’s Office.

Before returning recently to UCONN to pursue a Masters Degree, Flexer worked three years for Senate President Donald E. Williams, Jr. as his legislative aide. Flexer is very involved with her community, having served on the Killingly Charter Revision Commission,and the Killingly Education Needs Assessment Committee.[3] Flexer is currently on the Killingly Tercentennial Committee, serves on the Access Agency Board of Directors and is an active parishioner at St. James Church.
