Big Jet Plane EP is a 2010 Extended Play (EP) by Australian singer-songwriter duo of siblings Angus and Julia Stone. This EP includes 4 tracks or songs. The first 3 tracks may be found in some of their various albums (see tracks below)[1].

The first and key song Big Jet Plane of this 2010 EP is included in their album Down the Way published in 2010 by the Nettwerk Music Group (Vancouver). This song is a remastered and modified version of a song which Angus Stone released as part of a solo project -without his sister Julia-, under the alias Lady of the Sunshine, in a 2009 album titled Smoking Gun[2][3][4]. This latter 12-songs album by Angus Stone, Smoking Gun, named after one of the songs of the album, includes a song already titled Big Jet Plane which is rather similar to the remastered version of this song published a year later in 2010 as an EP and which is included in the album Down the Way.

Big Jet Plane officially won the Australian Recording Industry Association's Single of the Year for 2010. This was done at the ARIA Music Awards of 2010. This single won alongside with Angus & Julia Stone's Album of the Year at the ARIA Music Awards of 2010 with their album Down the Way.

Big Jet Plane was on playlists for both Nova 100 and Triple J, receiving constant airplay. After Big Jet Plane won Single of the Year on the 7th of November 2010, it received airplay from other channels such as Fox FM in Melbourne.

The week following the ARIA Music Awards of 2010, the song made a massive leap, from being positioned at #47 then jumping to #21, therefore making its peak position at its 22nd week. Songs were believed to have sold more because of it winning the Single of the Year as well as their performance of the song at the ARIA Music Awards of 2010.

Big Jet Plane has gold accredition, which means it has sold over 35,000 copies in Australia.

On 26 January 2011 the song was voted Number 1 on the Triple J Hottest 100, 2010.

The song was also feature in the feature film: "Easy A".

  2. ^ Lady of the Sunshine on Myspace; however the title "Big Jet Plane" is not mentioned on these web pages dedicated by Angus Stone to his personal production under this alias "Lady of the Sunshine" (one song is titled "Lady Sunshine"), most probably for legal or marketing reasons; in any case copyrights for both albums Down the Way and Smoking Gun are managed by the same company Nettwerk Records; the album "Smoking Guns", with the original version of the song "Big Jet Plane", is available, as well as Down the Way, with the remasterised version of the song, at leading online CD & digital music stores.
