Prudhoe Community High School (Template:Pron-en)[1][2] is a school located in Prudhoe, England.
Situated on Moor Road, Prudhoe, PCHS is a high school and sixth form college that specializes in technology and the arts. Students range from year 9 to year 13 (years 12 & 13 being sixth form).
The school was opened in 1958 and has expanded over the years from having 350 pupils to more than 1,000.
General information
The school is made up of several different buildings. These include the main building where the maths, languages and sciences are based. There are also a many ICT labs, and the learning resource centre.
There is a Humanities block where the pastoral area, the finance office, and the learning support area are based. It is also where the subjects History, Geography, Ethics, and part of the drama department are based. The English block where English and sixth form study area is based.

Technology
Prudhoe Community High School is a technology college.[citation needed] They teach Textiles, Electronics, Resistant Materials, Food, Graphics (ICT and Traditional) and the Engineering diploma.
I.T. Facilities
The school has on average one IT classroom per department (with Art, Maths and Contemporary Arts departments being the only departments not to have an IT Room). As a Technology College in Northumberland PCHS has full WiFi for staff and students throughout all of its buildings, however pupils must get the pass code from the head.
Every Classroom in the school has at least one PC, with portable laptops available only to the sixth form students.
Learning Resource Centre
Prudhoe Community High School supports its pupils through a learning resource centre (known also as the LRC) which includes a library, career advice centre, creative area and 26 computers for use by students. The LRC is Staffed between 8:30am and 4pm Monday - Thursday and 8:30am and 3:30pm Friday (during term time).
Clubs
The learning resource centre runs and plays host to several after school clubs. These include the year 9 reading group[3] and a homework club which runs from 3pm to 4 pm.
Also starting is Media Club on monday's 3 to 4 pm.
Sports Facilities
The sports hall includes squash court, fitness room and a large gym (with cricket batting nets and 2 small and 1 large basketball court. Outside the sports hall there is some basketball and tennis courts. In the main building, there is a gymnastics hall.
The school also has three large playing fields, one with athletics facilities (a sand pit and running track) and rugby posts, one having football posts and the remaining field is a state of the art, floodlit astro-turf pitch.
New Media Centre

Plans for the new £4.3 million centre based at Prudhoe Community High School, funded by the DCSF Diploma Exemplar scheme, have been approved and building work began early in August 2010.[4]
Designed to deliver the new 14-19 Creative and Media Diploma, the qualification combines both academic and practical learning across Media, Art and Performance. Vital to these new courses is partnership with industry so that students develop real world experience and skills such as team working and creative thinking which could be applied in all areas of employment.
The centre will contain broadcast quality TV and Radio studios, fully equipped cinema and performance space, plus creative design and art rooms, a mac suite, meeting rooms, and incubator. [5]
Extracurricular and S.E.N. Support
The school provides a special area for anyone with learning and social difficulties. There is a permanent team of staff on hand who can help with extra lessons and one to one learning. The school also has two connections offices and provides help for those looking towards further and extended education. There is a school nurse who is available to give confidential free advice.
Famous visitors
HM The Queen has appeared a couple of times at the school, opening the Performance area and taking a guest tour.[citation needed] The new sports hall was opened by Shay Given, at that time goalkeeper for Newcastle United.[citation needed]
