Suresh Pachouri (Hindi: सुरेश पचौरी) (born 1 July 1952) is an Indian Politician from the state of Madhya Pradesh. He is a member of the Indian National Congress. He is currently the President of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee.

Political career

Suresh Pachouri entered Politics as a Indian Youth Congress worker in the early Seventies and became General Secretary of the Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress (I) during 1981-83. He was first elected to the Rajya Sabha in April 1984. He was General Secretary of the All India Youth Congress during 1985-88 and was re-elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1990 and thereafter continuously re-elected to the Upper House. He was the Minister of State at the Centre during 1995-96 for Defence Production and Supplies.

Suresh Pachouri was a Member of the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Defence and was also nominated to the Panel of Vice-Chairman, Rajya Sabha in 2000.

Mos Personnel,Public Grievances & Pensions

Suresh Pachouri served as Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions from 24 May 2004 - 6 April 2008.It was during this period that the Right to Information Act was passed by the Parliament of India on 15 June 2005.The Act came fully into effect on 12 October 2005.
