Respekt
Respekt is a weekly czech newsmagazine, reporting about domestic and foreign politics, economy, science and culture. It is published from Prague, the czech capital.
Editors describe Respekt as liberal paper which stands up for the freedom of thought and the need of continuous questioning its outcomes.
History
Respekt was founded in 1989 by the group of samizdat journalists as one of the very first independent magazines after the Velvet Revolution. Initially it was issued under the title Information service, but since March 1990 it bears its present name.
Editors in chief since 1990
Style
Respekt has its own distinguished visual style: With A3 format and black & white print it resembles rather daily newspaper than a magazine, but colour cover drawings of Pavel Reisenauer make it easy observable.
Owners
Respekt is issued solely by R-PRESSE, Ltd. Its majority owner is Karel Schwarzenberg, the rest is owned by Respekt employees.
