Rollback (add request)

I have been using WP:Twinkle's pseudo-rollback feature to revert vandalism I find for awhile now. I would like the rollback permission so I can utilize WP:IGLOO to better patrol Recent changes. ScottSteiner 06:28, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a relatively new Wikipedian who has assumed good faith and has performed many vandalism reverts (on many articles and several userpages) both manually (at first, very tedious) and then with Twinkle. I would like to be able to use the Rollback feature to more quickly and less tediously perform vandalism reverts. Thanks to the administrator who reads this for their consideration.li Rsteilberg 01:11, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

Reason for requesting rollback Ruth-2013 (talk) 03:34, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have in the past had to revert quite a few problematic edits would also like to help in the fight against the vandals especially in articles to do with the media and this feature would help me do that.

I am a long time vandalism fighter and up to now have used Twinkle, but find that occasionally it causes problems on my Mac with Safari so having the rollbacker right would allow me to bypass Twinkle and still be an effective vandalism fighter Simple Bob a.k.a.  Done For the bot, but you were granted rollback by Kbthompson in March 2010. Acalamari 17:44, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've been using Twinkle's rollback feature for a while but would prefer the simplicity of having it work like undo. Also, I dislike that Twinkle seems to encourage me to template from its menu more than I like. Msnicki (talk) 20:36, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
{{Not done}} for the moment: you were recently reported to WP:ANEW for a slow-moving edit war, in which you misused Twinkle, here; that was a content dispute and not vandalism; before granting you rollback, I'd like to see more experience in identifying vandalism, sorry. Salvio Let's talk about it! 21:45, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I appreciate both your consideration and your concern. But I do call your attention to my acknowledgment that I had misused the term and my apology at the end of the cited section and also to the other editor. This is some of the templating I've decided I don't like about Twinkle, that it makes it too easy to become too strident. I learned my lesson; if you examine contributions since then, I think you'll see much more and much clearer acknowledgment of good faith in the edit summaries and any comments I leave. Cheers. Msnicki (talk) 21:57, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Done. I hadn't seen the apology and, yes, your use of Twinkle has improved; you now assume good faith and explain yourself more; I, in turn, want to assume good faith, so I'm granting you rollback; when you're in doubt, however, please, keep on using Twinkle's AGF rollback or the undo button. And remember that rollback can be removed at any times if misused. Salvio Let's talk about it! 22:22, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. From reading over the instructions on rollback, it's clear that the difficulty of providing more than a generic edit summary really limits its use. So I appreciate the sageness of your advice about what to do when in doubt. Regards. Msnicki (talk) 22:40, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have been using the 'roollback' feature on Twinkle for some time. I feel it would be useful to have the Rollback right to further help in my fight against vandalism. Philip.t.day talk 20:52, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am familiar with what is and is not vandalism, and would like to use rollback for situations when articles are vandalized over several edits, but cannot be undone individually. When attempting to edit the article back to the original state manually, I often find that the vandalism edits have already been reverted by another editor with rollback. If given the use of rollback, I would use it very conservatively, and only when absolutely sure that the edits warrant use of rollback. SudoGhost (talk) 04:30, 19 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for requesting rollback — JL 09 talkcontribs    13:33, 20 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am a Wikipedian for almost two years now, and has difficulties with reverting vandalism done by other users and IP users. I do believe that having the rollback rights would lessen my efforts in tracing the start of theirs vandalism especially if the user did only vandalizing the page. Thanks--— JL 09 talkcontribs    13:33, 20 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've been inactive for a while (since before this page was introduced), but I'm starting to return to my editing habits, especially in the world of RC patrolling. It seems that, now, patrolling is done mostly by semi-automated tools (like the WP:VPRF of old, which I was fond of) that require (or benefit from) rollback. I have a long enough history of uncontroversial vandalism patrolling, if old - and I'd like to begin it anew. Avillia (Avillia me!) 20:40, 20 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have started editing more and more frequently and i feel that I could respond to potential abuse of pages faster if I Had this permission. Just today i found some expletive content in a talk page

Not done. I don't really see any vandal-fighting experience; you can start with WP:LUPIN or WP:TWINKLE, to get the feel of things and, when you're a little more experienced, you can ask again. On a completely unrelated note, it would be better if you improved your edit summary usage. Salvio Let's talk about it! 21:11, 20 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've been on wikipedia for over 5 years and have done a lot of work reverting vandalism - looking to make the reverting I do simpler! Zanoni (talk) 11:31, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Enjoy! Remember, however, that rollback is only for obvious vandalism. Salvio Let's talk about it! 11:43, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Noted - thank you Zanoni (talk) 11:57, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
