Universal Pulse is the tenth studio album by American rock band 311, to be released in August 2011 by Volcano Entertainment.[1][2][3][4] Like its predecessor, Uplifter, this album was produced by Bob Rock, who has produced or engineered albums by numerous notable acts, such as Metallica, Aerosmith, Mötley Crüe, Bon Jovi, The Cult, Our Lady Peace and The Offspring. Unlike previous albums where their record label requested that the drums be recorded at an alternate location, all tracks, including the drums, were recorded at the Hive Studio. In recent radio interviews, vocalist/guitarist Nick Hexum has revealed that the album will have a more "focused" approach, with a heavier sound featuring distortion guitars on every song. Two confirmed song titles are "Timebomb" and "Wild Nights" which they debuted on the 311 Caribbean Cruise. To support the album, 311 has confirmed that Sublime with Rome will be along for the 2011 Unity Tour, with special guests DJ Soulman and DJ Trichrome. Taken from twitter posts from bassist P-Nut, it is said that this will be the shortest album yet, only having 8 songs.
