St Saviour Valley End, Surrey

Valley End is a village in the Borough of Surrey Heath in Surrey, England, about 2 miles from Chobham, Surrey. And about 15 minutes drive from the London railway line stations at Woking to the south and Sunningdale to the north.

History

Valley End has one church, St Saviour which was built in 1867[1] by the English architect George Frederick Bodley[2]. The church is build in red and brown brick with stone dressed windows. The interior is a simple mixture of brick and stone.

Valley End School was founded in 1859 by the Hon Julia Bathurst of Hyams Hall, Windlesham.[3]

The Valley End Cricket Club was founded in 1895.[4]

Today

Valley End is located between the M3 and M25 motorways.

There is a Holy Communion service at St Saviour church every Sunday at 9am[5]

Valley End Institute Hall has two rooms that are available for the local community to hire. The Leschallas Hall comprises an open space of about 17 metres x 9 metres (65'4" x 29'6") suitable for games such as badminton because there is about 5m clearance above the court area. It has a semi-sprung floor, suitable for dances and other functions. Tables and chairs are also available. The kitchen is suitable for serving and reheating for small functions but is not equipped for a full catering service, therefore no crockery, etc., is available. The second room is the Christie Room which has a single billiard table but no facilities for refreshments of its own as the only access to the kitchen is via the Leschallas Hall, which may be let to others.
