Talk:Pioneer Venus project

Title
This is not a good title. I think "Pioneer Venus" might be a better heading.
Assessment
I added a {{WPSpace}} banner, with "spaceflight=yes | class=Start | spaceflight-importance=Mid".

It'll be on my docket soon enough. --Xession (talk) 07:22, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
Recollections
I worked on this project at Aames Research Centre, developing compiler software for spacecraft control. There was some truly intriguing technology went into this spacecraft - in particular, I remember the de-spun antenna and the incredible computation that kept it into line with the terrestrial Deep-Space Network (how do you align an antenna on a great rotating gyroscope? By clever use of roll index pulse spin delay). We used PDP 11's to manage it. It's sobering to me to consider that I have more memory on my USB wristwatch than we had in the entire DSN. 203.45.22.246 (talk) 00:05, 27 May 2011 (UTC) (Nefarious Wheel)
