Carrie Fountain is an American poet.

She is from Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was a fellow at the Michener Center for Writers,[1] and received Swink Magazine's Award for Emerging Writers and the Marlboro Poetry Prize. She wrote for the Texas Observer,[2] and was poetry columnist for the Austin American-Statesman,[3] and is program director of Grrl Action, a mentorship program for teenage girls.[4][5]

Her work has appeared in Cimarron Review, Black Warrior Review, 32 Poems,[6] and Missouri Review Online. She lives in Austin, Texas. She teaches at Austin Community College.[7]

She is married to the playwright Kirk Lynn.
