The Australian International Performing Arts High School is the newest performing arts high school in New South Wales, Australia.
AIPAH was founded in 2005 by Professor Lee. It is an exciting, innovative school for students with a passion for the creative and performing arts. The Australian International Performing Arts High School is open to students of artistic ability, dedicated to nurturing talent and encouraging the highest quality in performance and academic excellence.
The school is a boutique institution, designed specifically to meet the needs of young people who, in addition to their academic studies, desire to focus on Music, Drama, Dance and/or Visual Arts. While there is a focus on the performing and creative arts, there is also emphasis on academic excellence.
History
AIPAH was officially opened in January 2005 with 27 students from Years 7 to 11, and leading teacher Erin Mascord-Perez at the helm. Six months later, Mark Hopkins, editor for the Sydney Morning Herald joined the team as AIPAH's Principal. In 2008, Jim Mccrudden, former teacher of the Australian Institute of Music became Principal. In 2010 AIPAH seen a change with Debra Aarons becoming principal also with an entire new teaching staff, the performing arts side was also adjusted.
Performances
AIPAH usually performs twice a year at their annual Showcase held during June and November most years. They have performed in musicals such as "Back to the 80s" and recently "Mi-School Musical" written by former principal Jim McCrudden and directed by former drama stream tutor David Cuthbertson.
In its 6th Year AIPAH has performed at places all round Sydney at some of the most prestigious of events. These places include:
- The Lord Mayor's Christmas Party at The Rosehill Gardens
- Parramatta Business Awards for the Chamber of Commerce (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010)
- Performed for Oscar winner Dion Beebe at Parramatta Riverside
- Performed for Acclaimed Director Kimble Rendall
- International Disabilities day (2007)
- Fast & Fresh Junior Playwrights Competition

How I Met Your Art Stream
In 2010 notable student and captain of the Film/TV stream at AIPAH, Craig Jobson co-created a mini web series entitled, "How I Met Your Art Stream" which premiered it's episodes on YouTube. The web series gained interest into the school's Film/TV stream and also allowed outsiders to see the streams work. Many of the stories seen in the show's episodes were written by Jobson himself with some being written by other film students. By the end of 2010 the show had filmed a total of 20 episodes and went into development for a third and final series. Beginning in February 2011 the Film/TV stream began filming the third series with 3 new cast members and a new series director, Liviu Monsted. Along with Craig; Liviu helped produce the show. The show premiered it's third and final series 1st July 2011 and filmed it's last scene 30th August 2011. In it's whole run the show has made 30 episodes with the time length running between 5-8 minutes. The series finale is being screened at AIPAH 23rd September 2011 and will premiere on YouTube on the same night.
