Amy Rose Locane (born December 19, 1971) is an American television and film actress.

Career

Locane was born in Trenton, New Jersey. She starred as one of the original cast on the television series Melrose Place, in which she played Sandy, an aspiring actress who waited tables at the show's bar hangout, Shooters. She left Melrose Place after its first 12 episodes of season one and was replaced by Daphne Zuniga. She also starred in the movie Airheads with Brendan Fraser and Adam Sandler.

She plays a lead role in the film Cry-Baby (1990), starring Johnny Depp, co-stars in the comedy Bongwater with Luke Wilson and Jack Black, and plays the love interest for main character Brendan Fraser in School Ties. She appears in Carried Away.

Personal life

In 2008, Locane married Mark Bovenizer, a local businessman and volunteer firefighter from New Jersey.[1][2][3] They have two daughters, born in January 2007 and January 2009.[4] In April 2011, at the age of two, their younger daughter was diagnosed with a chronic gastrointestinal disease.[5]

Locane has been charged with manslaughter in connection with a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred in Montgomery, New Jersey, on June 27, 2010. It is alleged she was driving under the influence of alcohol, yet her attorney described the charge as being unwarranted based on the facts.[1][6]

During a court hearing on July 10, 2011, a police officer testified saying that Locane "giggled and appeared happy as she sat in a nearby drainage ditch" after her June 2010 arrest.[7] She was also allegedly involved in a hit & run accident just prior to this crash.[8] Test results show she had three times the legal blood-alcohol limit.[9] She is charged with first-degree aggravated manslaughter and third-degree assault by auto. If convicted, she faces 30 years in prison.
