Deborah Watling (born 2nd January 1948, Fulmer Chase, Buckinghamshire) is a British actress best known for her role as Victoria Waterfield, a companion of the Second Doctor in the BBC television series Doctor Who. Victoria became an orphan after her father died at the hands of the Daleks in Evil of the Daleks, traveling for a brief time in the TARDIS with the Doctor and Jamie. After Fury From The Deep Victoria tired of adventuring and remained with the Harris family on contemporary Earth. Renowned for her piercing screams, Victoria also had a sense of vulnerability, which often brought out Jamie's protective nature. Nonetheless, Victoria did occasionally show a spark of courage, as she demonstrated Tomb of the Cybermen

Debbie Watling played Victoria Waterfield from 1967 to 1968, returning in the BBC special Dimensions in Time (1993) and independent spin-off Downtime (1995). She also appears at Doctor Who conventions regularly, and is still good friends with her co-star Frazer Hines, who played Jamie for three years. Debbie's late father Jack Watling also appeared in Doctor Who as Professor Travers in the serials The Abominable Snowmen and The Web of Fear, also reprising his role in Downtime

Debbie Watling began her television career in 1965 starring in a production of H.G. Wells's "Invisible Man." She came to Doctor Who fresh from her portrayal of Alice Hargreaves in a BBC production of Alice in Wonderland. After Doctor Who, Watling sought more mature roles, starring alongside David Essex in That'll Be The Day, in which she played his first girlfriend.
