Mukandpur is a village near Banga, Nawanshahr district (also known as Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar, in Punjab, India.[1]

According to the 2001 Census,[2] Mukandpur has a population of 3,785 people. Neighbouring villages include Jagatpur, Prozepur, Talwandi Phattu, Jhingran, Shokar and Hakimpur.

Amardeep Singh Shergill Memorial College Mukandpur
The College was established in 1994.[3]
The parents of Amardeep set up the College in memory of their son. Gurcharn Singh Shergill and Ms.Surinder Kaur decided to open a college in their native village Mukandpur. The Trust and the college overseas committee, Principal and Members of the staff worked in harmony to achieve the objectives and take the college to the zenith of glory. In July 2007 the College acquired the status of being a constituent college of GNDU Amritsar.[3]
The College houses a double storied library which has more than 21,000 books placed on its open shelves. More than 40 magazines, Journals and periodicals adorn its stands. The library has an e-book section also. Latest equipment like OHP, multimedia, TV, stereo, DVD etc. are employed as teaching aids.[3]
The College also has Chemistry, Biology,Botany,Zoology, Home Science, Child care, Dairy Farming, Music, Physics, Dress Designing and Automobile Maintenance labs. Internet service is provided. An English language lab with Re-Net software imported from Finland has been set up. There is a separate seminar hall with a capacity of 170 persons.
The College has a gymnasium with its latest imported machines. The Darshan Gill sports complex with a track of four hundred meters, has playing fields for football, hockey, volleyball and handball.[3]
The college principal resides in college campus. Teachers are also provided accommodation in 24 beautifully built flats. A girls hostel is also available. A fleet of eight buses carries girl students to the College from their respective villages. A generator is installed for continuous power supply during power cuts. The majestic open-air theatre helps students to nurture their academic and cultural capabilities.[3]
The college students have performed considerably well in the youth festivals and has won a number of prizes. In sports as well the college has won the university championship for five consecutive years in ‘B’ Division.[3]
The college offers, apart from MCA and MBA, two full time P.G Courses namely Economics, and Information Technology. It also offers B.A, B.C.A, B.Com, B.Sc courses in Medical, Non-Medical, Economics, computer Science. Vocational subjects like Functional English, Dairy Farming, Computer Application and Automobile Maintenance are also offered ate degree level. In addition the college also runs P.G Diploma in Computer Application and P.G Diploma in Financial Services(Banking and Insurance).[3]
Amardeep Mela
The "Amardeep Mela" is organised annually by the Amardeep Singh Shergill Memorial College, Mukandpur. An annual feature of the College since its inception, the Mela lasts for four days.[4]
Chaunkian Da Mela
A famous fair known as "Chaunkian da Mela" is held in Mukandpur.[5] A faqir named "Sakhi Sarwar (Lakh Data) came to Balachaur. He started his journey from Rattewal and reached Mukandpur. He stayed here for nine days. Since then this fair is held in Mukandpur and lasts for nine days. A "Saang" starts from Rattewal and reaches Mukandpur. The leader of the "Saang" holds a flag which is called a "Togh".
People of Mukandpur
Many residents share the Kataria surname. Sardar Sadhu Singh Shergill served longest period as SARPANCH in history of Mukandpur. Dr.Amarjit Singh, founder secty-Trust of ASSM College Most of the people belongs to ravidasia religion.
