Vigilante

Since Gohan worked as the Great Saiyaman, doesn't he count as categorization under "Fictional vigilantes"? The Mario Bros. are the bomb!, 8:36, 20 June 2009

YES, he fitted the vigilante character completely. IIRC he was a university student back then. —Tokek (talk) 11:10, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

University student? Gohan was a high school student durring the Great Saiyaman arc. He attended Orange Star High School. Sarujo (talk) 16:50, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with the hat?

There is nothing ridiculous about using {{Redirect}} instead of {{For}}. It's actually more informal that way, and lets others know that "Gohan" is a redirect for this article. In addition, it shows that there is no disambiguation page for the name either. Better yet, see the ones at Son Goku (Dragon Ball), Frieza, Vegeta and List of Dragon Ball characters. No need to really dumb it down. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 16:15, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In some situations, redirect templates serve a purpose besides just informing the user that there are redirect(s) to the article. For example, at the top of Barack Obama, users are informed that "Obama" redirects to Barack Obama, and for other uses (of "Obama") see Obama (disambiguation). This clarifies that the hatnote provides disambiguation for those who searched for or were linked to "Obama," as opposed to being a disambiguation for "Barack Obama." Therefore we find the city of Obama at the disambiguation page linked from Barack Obama even though we wouldn't refer to the city as Barack Obama.
In the case of Gohan redirecting to Son Gohan, we need to disambiguate between grandson Son Gohan and grandpa Son Gohan, so we are disambiguating the article title as well. Since we are only disambiguating two characters of the same name as the article title, the need to make a distinction between the article title and the redirect title doesn't exist. And in general, we shouldn't provide all the redirects that point to any given article in a hatnote without necessity. Redirect tags present more information, but more importantly the template is used to present that additional information for a purpose. —Tokek (talk) 18:13, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Your logic still doesn't make sense. It's just one important redirect. I could understand if it was something foolish like "Gohan", "Gohan (Dragon Ball)", and "Gohan (Dragon Ball Z)" redirect here ... etc. Yes, that would be unnecessary, the current hatlink, however, is not. Besides, the 'for' part is already included in the template I brought back. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 19:33, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree with your statement that my logic doesn't make sense. Surely, it made at least some sense, did it not? Otherwise my replying to your comment was totally wasted. I can understand how we can have differences in personal editing preferences, however . BTW, "informal" → "informative." —Tokek (talk) 00:01, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Name changes

Since Son Goku correctly changed to Goku. We should probably change this to Gohan. Anyone object?.Lucia Black (talk) 20:07, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The only possible issue I can see would be if there is debate regarding this as the primary topic (there are a few entries on the existing Gohan dab page) but even if that was an issue we can use Gohan (Dragon Ball) so I don't see that as a major issue. The existing consensus on the Goku page should also be enough to combat any claims that this page should stay at Son Gohan since this character is not better known with the Son surname than Goku was.--70.24.207.225 (talk) 21:08, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
