Jonathan R. Alger is the Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Rutgers University in New Jersey and a teacher at the same university of diversity issues and higher education law. Jonathan Alger is on the Board of Directors of the National Association of College and University Attorneys as well as the advisory board for the Association of American Universities [1]. On November 28th, 2011, Alger was chosen by a unanimous vote of the James Madison University Board of Visitors to be the University's sixth President [2]. He was chosen, in part, for his focus on students. [3] Alger is a graduate of Swarthmore College and Harvard Law School. Before working at Rutgers, Alger worked for the US Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights and the law firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius [4].
