It is a composite university with four graduate schools and seven colleges, five of which are in the Chungju Campus (Engineering, Construction and Transportation Engineering, Advanced Science and Technology, Humanities, and Social Science), and two, in the Jeungpyeong Campus (Health and Life Science, International, Social and Information Science). Chungju University has about 300 professors, a high-level education system, and various programs for nurturing global leaders. It has expanded its education infrastructure and improved its capability for creative education delivery. History

2010: Signed an MOU with Saint Petersburg State Agrarian University in Russia. Signed an MOU with krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical University in Russia. The Ministry of Knowledge Economy announced support for Regional Industry Development supporting Organization. Signed an MOU with Ulaanbaatar University in Mongolia. Appointed as an Exemplary University in terms of the Revised Admission System Support Business University Identity (UI). Appointed as an Educational Corporation Support Business by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. Appointed as a University-education Capability-reinforcing Business by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. 03Appointed as a University-Education Capability Reinforcing Business by the Department of Education Science and Technology. Launched its General University System. Signed an MOU with Oakland University in the USA. Signed an MOU with Kuala Lumpur University in Malaysia.

2009: Extended its MOU with Beijing University of Technology in China. 10University Headquarters completed (1 basement, 7 floors). Appointed as the Best Service Provider among New-generation Battery-specialist Labor Force Training Service Providers (by the New University for Regional Innovation or NURI). Signed an MOU with Kettering University, Lawrence Technological University, and Salem State College in the USA. Recognized as the most significant contributor to the Small and Medium-sized Business Cooperation Project. Awarded a prize for being “The Best University” by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology.

2008: Adjudged “The Best University” among the universities reorganized by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology announced support for the cultivation of competent human resources. The Ministry of Knowledge Economy announced support for energy-related human resource education. Signed an agreement with Russian Pacific National University for a student exchange program. Signed an MOU with Pannasastra University in Cambodia. Officially announced its Constitution.

2007: Extended its MOU with the University of Delhi in India. Reset its opening date to June.

2006: Merged into Chungju National University

This school offers various general and introductory courses. It focuses on planning curricula to cultivate empowered students with global and creative minds. History

The school opened in 1962 as Chungju Technical Junior College (충주공업초급대학), a two-year school. It became Chungju Technical College, offering a five-year program, in 1965, and was nationalized in 1971. However, it was returned to the status of a two-year junior college in 1974. It was moved to its present-day location in 1982. Eleven years later in 1993, it became a four-year university, Chungju National University of Industry. In March 2006 it merged Cheongju National College of Science and Technology (Jeungpyeong campus now).

Sister schools

The university maintains domestic sisterhood relationships with numerous institutions, including Korea's 19 other universities of industry.
