The 2012 UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship will be the eleventh edition of UEFA's European Under-17 Football Championship under its current age grouping. Slovenia will host the tournament[1] between 4 and 16 May.[needs update][2] An appeal by the Hungarian Football Federation to have Hungary replace Belgium over an ineligible player in the Belgium V Russia elite round match was unsuccessful.[3]
Players born after 1 January 1995 will be eligible to participate in this competition.
Venues
The tournament will be held in Domžale, Lendava, Ljubljana and Maribor.[4] The selected stadiums that will host matches are:
- Stožice Stadium (capacity 16,038 seats)
- Ljudski vrt (12,994)
- Domžale Stadium (2,813)
- Lendava Sports Park (2,020)
Qualification
The final tournament of the 2012 UEFA European Under-17 Championship will be preceded by two qualification stages: a qualifying round and an Elite round. During these rounds, 52 national teams will compete to determine the seven teams.
