Homesick is the third studio album by A Day to Remember, released on February 2, 2009 in Europe and February 3, 2009 in the United States. The album charted at No. 21 on the Billboard 200, No. 2 on Hard Rock Albums, No. 1 on Top Independent Albums, and sold 22,000 copies in its first week.[6] It was produced by Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory and mixed by Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage. The album has sold 215,000 copies to date in the United States.[7] It has come to be regarded as the band's breakthrough album.
Background
On January 26, the song "Welcome to the Family" was put on the band's Myspace profile. On January 28, 2009 the song "The Downfall of Us All" was put on the band's Myspace profile. On January 29, the song "NJ Legion Iced Tea" was released as the first single. The second single is "The Downfall of Us All" and the music video was released on March 6, 2009.[8] In October 2008, a song entitled "Wax Larry" appeared on the band's Myspace, which in turn is the name for the demo of "I'm Made of Wax, Larry, What Are You Made Of?". The title "I'm Made of Wax, Larry, What Are You Made Of?" is a reference to Theodore Roosevelt in Night at the Museum where Robin Williams (Roosevelt) asks Ben Stiller (Larry), "I'm made of wax, Larry, what are you made of?"
A re-issue was released on October 27, 2009, with the original track listing intact, acoustic versions of "Homesick" and "Another Song About The Weekend", and 9 live tracks from a performance in Switzerland.[9]
The songs "The Downfall of Us All", "Have Faith in Me", "I'm Made of Wax, Larry, What Are You Made Of?" and "If It Means a Lot to You" are available as downloadable content for Rock Band. The song "NJ Legion Iced Tea" is available as downloadable content for Guitar Hero World Tour.
"If It Means a Lot to You" was used in "Halo", the 31st episode of the 10th season of Degrassi: The Next Generation.
The cover art was made by Dan Mumford.
