Krispy Kreme (born 1989/1990) is an American rapper from Alabama,[1] that became known after uploading The Baddest, a rap music video on YouTube[2] that has garnered over 3 million views.[3]

Viral videos

The video for The Baddest had a huge spike in views after Ray William Johnson featured the video on an episode of =3 on May 8, 2012. Later on May 18, 2012 Andy Milonakis reviewed Krispy Kreme's follow-up single, Haters Wanna Be Me, on =3 during Johnson's temporary absence from the show. The viral videos have been highlighted for their slow-witted[2] and braggadocio lyrics.[4][5] along with being featured on Barstool Sports[6][7], CBS[8][9], and CollegeHumor[10][11], among others.[12][13][14][15] Krispy Kreme has been called the "Rebecca Black of rapping".[16][17] Throughout Krispy's video, The Baddest, Krispy boasted he had 400 cars, scars and 400 of several other items while having snot running down his nose which led to several comments on the video telling him to get 400 tissues.[18] Brett of VP Rambunkshus Records is currently Krispy Kreme's manager. Krispy Kreme has over 73k subscribers and 8.5 million video views on YouTube as of June 9, 2012.[19] On May 31, 2012, Krispy Kreme released a new song, Best Friends[20][1], a more serious rap than the previous two, rapping about his friendship with Money Maker Mike and referencing Tupac Shakur at the end of the song.[21][22][23] On June 3, 2012, Krispy Kreme gave a motivational speech to his fans about chasing their dreams and openly wept throughout the video.[24]

Money Maker Mike

Krispy Kreme was joined by Money Maker Mike in the viral videos.[25] Money Maker Mike has met criticism[26] for just standing around during the viral videos. Famous rapper, Mac Miller, gave a shout out to Money Maker Mike, saying ""That type of sh-- is cool to me because I'm like, 'Man I'm really makin' it when random big videos on YouTube, they're wearing my clothes, that's hella promotion for my clothes." The statement was in response to Money Maker Mike wearing a Mac Miller tee-shirt throughout the first two viral videos released by the rap duo.[27]

Conflicts

Krispy Kreme's manager, Brett, revealed that they bought the licensing rights to the instrumental of The Baddest, which led to the producers of the instrumental, Diamond Style Productions being confused and flagging the videos for copyright infringement on Thursday, May 17, 2012. The videos that were flagged eventually ended back up on YouTube on May 21, 2012.

Personal

On May 22, 2012, Krispy Kreme put it out there that it's a chance he might be a professional wrestler. In the same video he called out John Cena asking Cena to wrestle him.[28] On May 27, 2012, Krispy Kreme revealed in a video that the first rapper he heard was Nas.[26] Krispy Kreme also revealed that as a kid his favorite songs were Dear Mama, California Love and Changes by Tupac Shakur.[29]
