"Yeh Hum Aa Gaye Hain Kahan" (Hindi: यह हम आ गये हैं कहाँ) is a romantic song from the Bollywood film Veer-Zaara, directed by Yash Chopra.

About the song

The music was composed by the Late Madan Mohan and recreated by his own son Sanjeev Kohli and is sung by Udit Narayan and Lata Mangeshkar. The film was to be titled after this song but this idea was later dropped.

The song was in fact cut from the film when released. The special features DVD shows that the song was incorporated with the court scene and had two versions/options of the song (see below for more details). Though not included in the theatrical, the song was on the released album.

The song was latter added in the Blu-ray DVD release, just as it was intended.

The music video

The music video picturised on Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta was filmed in the stunning European countryside.

The Music Video's Versions/Options

Although the film doesn't have the video song, it was released on the collector's DVD pack and had two options for playing:-

  • 1) As a whole song:- In this option we see that the song is being appeared as Veer dreams this songs after Samiya presents her case and then the whole video song occurs. (Note: This option's tempo is slower than the original soundtrack.)
  • 2) As in the film's screenplay:- In this option we see that the song is being appeared as Veer dreams this songs after Samiya presents her case, then the video song occurs while scenes from the court also come while he is dreaming. (Note: This option's tempo is a bit faster than the original soundtrack.)

Trivia

  • The song title "Yeh Hum Aa Gaye Hain Kahan" was meant to be the film's main title but Yash Chopra felt that "Veer-Zaara" went better with the epic mood of the film.
  • The title of the song was made from the song of Yash Chopra's film Silsila "Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum", being slightly different from "Yeh Hum Aa Gaye Hain Kahan".
  • The song was removed from the film in post-production due to concerns over the length of the film.
