Geography

Sapatgram is located at 26.33°N 90.13°E / 26.33; 90.13. It has an average elevation of 27 metres (88 feet). It is situated in the bank of the river Sankosh.SAPATGRAM AMALGAMATED ACADEMY(Estd;1939)and Sapatgram Bengali High School(Estd:1936) are few of the oldest schools in Assam, established prior to the independence.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, Sapatgram had a population of 12,046. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Sapatgram has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 82%, and female literacy is 72%. In Sapatgram, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age. It has one Bengali medium (estd.-1936), one assamese medium school viz SAPATGRAM AMALGAMATED ACADEMY(Estd in 1939), five primary schools and one college. It has one railway station also. The nearest airport is 20 km away from town Sapatgram has a college. Its name is SAPATGRAM COLLEGE Estd.1972. It consists of arts and commerce stream.Many students who read this college are in the top most field in their lives... Here business is the main occupation of average number of people. Sapatgram town's communication is very poor. Sapatgram town roads is not developed from last 5 years. Sapatram main communication is SANKOSH RIVER, this river is a border of Sapatgram and Kokrajhar District. Sapatgram's people can't go to kokrajhar district's villages and kokrajhar's people cant go to Sapatgram for this river. In rainy season people and students go to sapatgram bey boat.
