Early Years

Large was born and raised in in the Prospect Lake area of Sannich, the northwestern part of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. He initially attended school in nearby Beaver Lake before enrolling at St. Michael’s University School a private school with alumni like Steve Nash and dreamed of a career in professional sports. While he played rugby and soccer and other sports, he was on track to be a professional baseball player until injury took him out of the game he loved. At first, drama didn’t seem to be in the cards, especially given his less than ideal debut while in high school. “We had to write a play in class and then act it out and I totally panicked,”

he said. “I had stage fright so bad I ran out and my teacher had to drive over to the house and talk me in to going back.”

Tall at 6 ‘ 2” and athletic at 210 pounds, he soon found work as a male model and it led to an interest in acting and at 21-years-old he moved across the Georgia Strait and enrolled at the Vancouver Film School and later American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles.

Career

His early career featured minor parts in shows like 21 Jump Street which was shot in Vancouver, British Columbia with then ingénue Johnny Depp and Breaker High which featured actors like fellow Canadian Ryan Gosling which was shot in Burnaby, B.C. About the same time he had a background part the 1997 film Excess Baggage staring Alicia Silverstone and in 1998 with a role on Disturbing Behavior with then unknown Katie Holmes and he knew the movie industry was his calling. Still, while he found some acting roles he soon realized the real opportunities in the industry lay in post-production and financing projects. Today Large splits his time between Santa Monica, Victoria and Hawaii. He is not married.
