A barnstar for you!

The Admin's Barnstar
I'm sure I speak for thousands, and most probably tens of thousands of regular editors: you are one of the most widely respected admins on the whole en.wp project. Shirt58 (talk) 10:17, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think we may well get into a WP:MODESTEDITWAR here. Listen here, Jimfbleak, I'm far more modest than you'll ever be. D'oh! I claimed to be more modest than you, which means I am actually less modest than you. But then again, I admitted my immodesty, which makes me more modest than you. D'oh! I claimed to be more modest than you, which means I am actually less modest than you. Rinse and repeat.--Shirt58 (talk) 11:59, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Janine Layton Kimmel

Good Morning, I hope you can help me. I am trying to create a page for my boss. I wrote the about on her website with her help and she asked me to use that same info here. Can you please explain why your deleted the "Janine Layton Kimmel" wikipedia record(G12: Unambiguous copyright infringement) - There was no copyright infringement. All works are by Janine and used at her request and with her permission. Any help is greatly appreciated. Danithegreat (talk) 12:46, 20 September 2012 (UTC) Danithegreat[reply]

Article related to Arunendu Das

Hello Jim, I hope you remember about my article about Arunendu Das where you asked for more references because the one I had provided was not in English. I have found an old newspaper cutting which is in English and I think is good enough to support my text since that newspaper is one of India's leading dailies even today. Furthermore, I have also acquired a PDF copy of a booklet published by the band Mohiner Ghoraguli where they fondly remembers Arunendu das and a copy of a Bengali little-magazine where an interview with the man was published. Since these are scanned copies and are personally with me, please let me know if I can upload them somewhere (wikimedia perhaps?) And share the link in the reference section. I have also edited the language a bit so it does not appear "spammy".

Thank you for your guidance. Sarbojitganguly (talk) 18:41, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dynamic Numeric Authentication

Hello Jim, I was wondering additional information is needed to prevent Dynamic Numeric Authentication from being removed. I found a reference to this term in a patent at the URL http://www.patentstorm.us/applications/20100046553/description.html that also discusses this term. I tried to look it up, and found very little about this term and decided to create the Wiki page. Where I would and hopefully other woudl add to this information. I have done some research on the term and thought it should be included. If you could please make some recommendations that woudl permit the term to remain in wikipedia, I woudl appreciate it.

Thank you Kyle Dunn Kdunn2102 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 20:19, 20 September 2012 (UTC) can you bring mine back up so i can print it it was for a school project — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ctrankel (talkcontribs) 21:12, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Futuro Futuro company page

Hello, Jim.

I would like to contest the "No indication of importance" criteria that you used in deleting this page.

The referenced company:

  1. In its market niche (residential kitchen ventilation equipment) offers more products than its next 5 competitors *combined*.
  2. Has been in operation for over a decade.
  3. Has operations in 2 countries, i.e. is an international-scale business.
  4. Has received *multiple* awards and critical acclaims from major industry organizations.
  5. Has invented and brought to market several technologies specifically designed to meet the strict new environmental design/build criteria set by LEED, NGBS, and other "green" standards.

Maybe I don't understand something, but IMHO an article about a successful business, that leads the market not only in the total number of products offered, but also in the number of "green" designs, new models brought to market per {pick a unit of time}, and critical acclaims, deserves a LITTLE MORE consideration than a "drive-by" shooting without any discussion whatsoever.

This is not a "basement operation", this is an INTERNATIONAL company with hundreds of products. What other "significance" are you looking for?

Please enlighten me, because I sincerely do not understand.

Article related to Arunendu Das

Hello, Jim.

Thank you for your response, I have tried looking into newspaper's online archives but they have kept since 2003 and the clip I have is from mid-August 2002. I will provide the translation for the already added reference. But rest I have as my local copies and I am unable to find their online equivalents. Also, I have corrected the language a bit, please check it once. Sarbojitganguly (talk) 06:04, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding deletion of page Instagram marketing

Dear Jim

You recently deleted a page of mine, titled "Instagram marketing". I understand you had a valid reason for doing so, but it was part of an assignment for a course and 1 credit depends on it. I do not have any backup of the page, so would it be possible for you to send me a copy of the same? Please send it to me at the earliest otherwise I'll flunk.

Arunendu Das - article submitted to article namespace

Hello Jim,

I have followed your advice and moved it to article namespace, please let me know if there is anything else I can do. Sarbojitganguly (talk) 13:07, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Futuro Futuro company

Regarding notability requirements:

  1. How should the references be put in - inline with the article, as reference links, or on the talk page?

(The reason I'm asking is because the *previous* version of this article DID have references - press releases, awards, editorial acclaims - and that actually contributed to its demise, being called "a hodge-podge of design organizations, can't see how it's relevant". ...If I do put in references, they're insulted - if I don't, it's not notable...)

  1. Would the following be acceptable to satisfy notability requirements:
  1. Press releases - can provide from 1 to ~30 links to published press releases.
  2. Manufacturer Profile on design review site Modenus - http://www.modenus.com/profile/vendor/futuro-futuro-range-hoods
  3. Manufacturer Profile on design resource site HomePortfolio - http://www.homeportfolio.com/ProductExplorer/ManufacturerProfilePage.jhtml?manId=10353
  4. Manufacturer Profile on design resource site Houzz - http://www.houzz.com/pro/futuro-futuro/futuro-futuro-kitchen-range-hoods
  5. Article on Apartment Therapy - http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/the-distinctively-elegant-mura-142990
  6. Article on C|Net - http://www.cnet.com/8301-13553_1-10147934-32.html
  7. Article #2 on C|Net - http://www.cnet.com/8301-13553_1-9978546-32.html
  8. Article on LuxuryLaunches - http://www.luxurylaunches.com/home_improvement/futuro_futuro_gullwing_hoods_for_your_ultra_modern_home.php
  9. Article on HomeTone - http://www.hometone.com/entry/new-futuro-futuro-range-hoods-kitchen-appliance-or-a-work-of-art/
  10. Article on 3rings - http://media.designerpages.com/3rings/2010/10/23/futuro-futuros-murano-collection-of-range-hoods/
  11. Article on Hanley-Wood's Ebuild - http://www.ebuild.com/articles/628756.hwx

I could find more references, but again, I don't want to appear link-spamming. What's a good balance?

Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1927metropolis (talkcontribs) 14:10, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Futuro Futuro - notability

Hi, Jim.

Some more questions...

1.) Here's the issue with source "credibility": this is not a big enough company that the NY Times or WSJ is going to write about it. It's a boutique, small firm that produces high-end, expensive products that are not meant for the mass market. Basically, it's in the same category as Koenigsegg compared to Chevrolet. You'll find 10,000 mentions of Chevy for each one of Koenigsegg - doesn't mean the 2nd is not notable.

C|Net (Alexa Rank 107) and Apartment Therapy (Alexa 2,473) are major, independent sites - how much more of a "credible source" can one find?

2.) Re usage of term "high end":

I looked at the page for Miele, an indisputable leader in the appliance industry. The Miele page uses the term "high end" right at the beginning - "is a German based manufacturer of high-end domestic appliances".

If the term "high end" can be used to describe products costing $ 999 (Miele DA3480 - http://www.ajmadison.com/cgi-bin/ajmadison/DA3480.html), why can't the same term be used to describe products that cost 3.5 times more (http://www.futurofuturo.com/island-range-hood-IS54SKYLIGHT.php), or 4.2 times more (http://www.futurofuturo.com/island-range-hood-IS60DUALLOFT.php)?

3.) You said, "There is nothing about the company - numbers of employees, turnover, profitability or history. All we know is that it's Italian but sells its hoods only in New York.".

This is a privately held company, and as such it does not disclose (nor does it have to) its financials to the public. The products are manufactured at the factory in Italy, then ocean-shipped to New York, and from there are shipped to 100's of resellers, architects, designers, builders, kitchen dealers, and appliance stores. It's not a New-York-area only company, it's a continent-wide operation.

What would be the best way to convey this structure, without making it "sound like an advertisement"?

Thank you again for your time. 1927metropolis (talk) 16:56, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Futuro Futuro - content (cont.)

"have more comprehensive content" - such as?

Is it possible to view / recover the previous version of an article that's been deleted? I can't seem to do it from any links. There was more content - regarding technology, innovative filtering systems, noise reduction systems, and so on. This article existed for at least 1 year, until the recent flurry of attention to it & its subsequent demise.

I could add more content about the technological aspects & why they're significant to the consumers, but I'm worried it would sound like an advertisement no matter how it's phrased. How would you say something like "Futuro Futuro offers an advanced 'Perimeter Suction Filter System', which improves airflow performance, reduces operational noise, and allows for easier cleaning. Out of the company's lineup of 202 models, 104 models are equipped with the perimetral suction system." - without having that killed for spam?
