Confusing sentence

I do not know what this sentence is trying to say.

"Formerly the region was called San Blas until 1998[2] as Kuna Yala until 2010."

Was it called San Blas until 1998 and then Kuna Yala until 2010? What, then, is it called now? Or what in heck does this mean? Could the author please clarify/rewrite this a little more intelligibly? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.22.43.50 (talk) 18:30, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Also, the Embera-Wounaan are a people. Is San Blas/Kuna Yala really "bounded" by them, geographically?
