Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.  You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. If you prefer to be unblocked for the purpose of changing your username to a username which complies with our username policy, so that your contributions with this username are recorded as contributions of your new username and rather than creating a new account, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice instead. Thank you. Request reason:

I'd like to change my username, so that my contributions with my old name "MCT Susan" are recorded as contributions of my new username "SusanYoo."

Accept reason:

Allowing username change to requested username. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:06, 29 December 2012

Where do I put in the request on Wikipedia:Changing username? In the archive? I tried to put it in "Completed rename requests," but Wikipedia didn't recognize my new username. Should I try again after loggin in under the old one??

You do understand that even with a username change, you will NOT be able to create an article on MCT as you have conflict of interest, right? (✉→BWilkins←✎) 11:58, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you still wish to change your name, so as to edit on topics not related to MCT, use {{unblock-un}}. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 12:59, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I understand the conflict of interest re. the MCT article. However, have you taken a look at the article? It's objective -- just facts. With good references cited. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MCT Susan (talkcontribs)

If your response is that your intent is to continued creating an article on the subject, then I will have no choice but to decline the unblock. Note: your reply does NOT need to be in another unblock request while the above one is still open (✉→BWilkins←✎) 17:52, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I will definitely not do anything that is against Wikipedia's policies or anything the other editors say is a problem. I'm just a new kid on the block. Is it ok if someone unrelated to MCT posts the article? I've seen a lot of other news agency pages, and they're a lot smaller than MCT, don't get used even a fraction as much as MCT copy.

There isn't even anything on the draft page that remotely suggests notability as per WP:NCORP from what I see. Another issue is that you appeared to have drafted it, then copy/pasted it over to AFC. As someone else had edited your draft, this is improper attribution - which violates copyright, which you should know about as a news agency (✉→BWilkins←✎) 20:37, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
We have ways to achieve COI edits which are acceptable - they are explained at WP:COI - basically you place a suggested edit on the talk page with a {{request edit}} template. Please read the guideline carefully.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:06, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think the earlier username ever went through. I tried logging in as SusanYoo, and the username was not found. As I continued to research username changes, I came across a warning that using your real name can result in harassment, so I'd like to change to a different name, if possible. Here's my request:

Purely procedural, as you've already been unblocked. I'll give more detailed instructions right below this. Writ Keeper 19:31, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, MCT Susan! Sorry, the process for changing usernames isn't nearly as simple as we'd like it to be. The account MediaMaven is actually already taken. That doesn't necessarily keep you from taking that name, as we have a thing called "usurpation". But, we try to use usurpation as little as possible, since it does involve taking someone else's name. However, the name "Media Maven" (with a space in the middle) is not taken; would that be an acceptable alternative?

If so, the page you need to go to is this one. There are some instructions that would be good to read there. Once you're ready, you can click the link in instruction number 5 (you can click on this link too, if you have trouble finding that one). This will take you to an editing screen, with some text already on it. Type in your current username (MCT Susan) next to the "CURRENT=" bit, your desired username (Media Maven) next to the "NEW=" bit, and a few words about why you want your username changed next to the "REASON=" bit. Be sure to keep those labels; just type right next to them instead of deleting. I'll keep an eye on this page, so let me know if you still have any problems. Thanks! Hi Writ Keeper! "Media Maven" is a great name -- I have no desire to usurp! I've followed your instructions -- very clear and helpful, thank you! I'll wait for an e-mail telling me what to do next. Thanks again! Best regards and Happy New Year! --Media Maven.

WikiPuppies bark dig 20:25, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I like the "bark!" :)

At this point, will my Username automatically change? Do I need to do anything to follow up?

I tried going to this page, to check: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Media_Maven, but the page said that this user had not been registered yet.

I'll just wait, I guess, and in the meantime I'll look at help desk pages.

Thank you! Ruff, ruff! :P

Rename

It appears to have been approved Wikipedia:Changing_username/Simple#MCT_Susan_.E2.86.92_Media_Maven - it's waiting for action. When it happens this page will be renamed to the new user name  Ronhjones  (Talk) 20:48, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Does this mean I need to make a change (edit?) on my old Username talk page, and the Username will update automatically?
