Requests for registration

Please read the guide on the main page before requesting permission. In applying for AWB access, you indicate that you will abide by its terms.

Also, this page is for requesting AWB Access for this wiki (English Wikipedia) only. Other projects have their own check pages and you should ask administrators there to add you.

Please add your name to the bottom of the appropriate list (user or bot) on this page below using *{{AWBUser|your username}} ~~~~~. Enter your user name exactly as the software displays it, for example in the 'Basic information' section of your preferences. Do not use underscores instead of spaces or change the case of the first letter. Note that all usernames begin with an uppercase letter or a symbol.

If the list contains undecided entries that are over 48 hours old, please change {{noadminbacklog}} to {{adminbacklog}} at the top of this page.

Note that users with under 500 mainspace non-automated edits are rarely approved. You only need to give a reason for wanting AWB access if you have fewer than 500 mainspace non-automated edits. Administrators are automatically approved and do not need to list themselves.

If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage. If you will make many or fast automated edits using AWB, you may wish to use a separate (or bot) account for the purpose.

Users

  • At this stage I see a lot of automated editing, but not sufficient non automated edits yet to tell. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:27, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • you have less than 500 main space eidts, would you like to give a use for this tool? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:54, 15 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Really? I did not know that. How do I check the number of mainspace edits I have made? Anyway, I would like to use the tool to correct typographical errors efficiently. I would also like to use this tool to add acute accents to articles that contain Spanish words/names. Ajaxfiore (talk) 16:36, 15 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • To confirm read the notes on the page above. Your count can be observed by clicking on the count link against your user. Alternatively, on the contribution list you can filter to article space only with a drop down. I will take a closer look at your work. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:07, 15 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • The instructions have not been precisely followed, please read the part in bold. Others here seem to be able to do what the instructions say. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:39, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • If you're talking about the first letter being lower case, that is exactly how I signed up for an account. -- YPNYPN 23:19, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • You have identified the issue. No-one with a lower case first letter on their username in the application is permitted to use AWB. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:24, 27 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have, I hope, made the instructions clearer. The point is that if "ypnypn" is added to the authorised user list, AWB still won't run for you because it will be looking for "Ypnypn". -- John of Reading (talk) 20:46, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Even if you signed up for an account with "ypnypn", all account names begin with an uppercase letter (or a symbol). Look at your contribs or the user list. Here's proof that yours starts with a capital Y: [1]. Vacationnine 20:51, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • User has much less than 500 main-space edits. What would you like to do? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:46, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I want to use to tag and categorize WikiProject related articles with banner and assign priority and importance. Create categories by quality and importance for assessments. Check my recent categories activity and WP:ETH for complete WikiProject redesign and revival
I realized that my article count is 395, thus below the limit. I wasn't aware that main namespace and article namespace are the same thing. I'll be patient. Jesus Presley (talk) 02:16, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • You have less than 500 article space edits, what would you like to do? KTC (talk) 15:12, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Not done. As well as being below the 500 edit limit, Calu did not followed the instructions for listing on this page correctly, has had most of their CSD nominations declined (indicating a lack of understanding of content policy) and a number of their recent article edits have been reverted (for example, [2], where the parameter non-existent). I would suggest, Calu, that you take some more time to familiarise yourself with the ins and outs of editing (such as content guidelines/policies and markup). - Kingpin13 (talk) 20:19, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I would just like to ask what do you put to add the section other stations shown on or anything with a similar name in a box like that because I have seen it in other pages? And sorry I have not had mainly recent edits i have had exams and forgot several policy's I have now revised them and I am looking to resubmit some time summer 2013 do you recommend this?Calu2000 (Talk) 22:23, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • You have less than 500 article space edits, what would you like to do? KTC (talk) 15:12, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Vacationnine 23:31, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • You're only just above the 500 limit, but only because of your recent adding of categories to many pages. I notice that in many cases, you are editing the same page multiple times (e.g. three times here). Is there some reason for this? Also, I note that you don;t appear to ever set a manual edit summary when editing - Kingpin13 (talk) 20:10, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I dont want to use AutoWikiBrowser on English wiki , I just want to extract some data such as interwiki links using this code here so i can use it in AR wikipedia. I edited some pages multiple times because I created every category and added the pages to it according to the interwiki links in the team page, and sorry about the edit summary i forgot it. Are my changes harmful? Majed (talk) 21:41, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Note: see User:Fox Wilson/CSD log
  • What does your CSD log have to do with this request? KTC (talk) 23:07, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
At one point, my count was below 500 because of CSD tagging, then articles being deleted. It's a Fox! (Talk to me?) 23:51, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
CSD tagging or other kinds (eg orphan or notability) would not really count as constructive edits. Constructive edits are those that add or correct text for our readers. To show readiness for AWB, we don't count clicking a twinkle or huggle button a lot of times. But this is not an assessment of what Fox Wilson has done.
