Jörg Stadelmann?
The 1967 version (and those after it) of the cup was drawn and manufactured by the Bremen, Germany based company Koch & Bergfeld. The company symbol (Bremen coat of arms) is included in each of the cups manufactured. The man responsible for the original project was Horst Heeren. I am not aware of anyone called Jörg Stadelmann being involved in the project. There is an extensive article about the topic in German at the K&B homepage: http://www.koch-bergfeld.de/aktuelles/index.php3?id=29 It is safe to say that the information provided in the article currently is false. It is not known to me if Jörg Stadelmann is an invented person or if there is simply a confusion in the article (perhaps Mr. Stadelmann was an official responsible for this project in UEFA or something like that). Either way, it should be corrected. -134.93.52.128 (talk) 15:56, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
The cup was designed by Bernese jeweller Jörg Stadelmann according to page 8 of issue 42 of the uefadirect magazine. I'll add a citation. Tomcrocker (talk) 17:26, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
The Trophy
Seeing as this is the English wikipedia and seeing as I, and many other people don't speak Spanish, can someone add to this line: "Because of the design of the trophy in Spain is also known as 'La Orejona'" explaining what that word means? Thanks.Largo1965 16:05, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Pretty sure it means large ears. BestEditorEver 16:08, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
It does indeed mean "Big Ears" The Spanish for "ears" being "orejas"
Merge_UEFA_Badge_of_Honour
UEFA Badge of Honour consists of two paragraphs moved out of European Champion Clubs' Cup. The first is still on the Cup page in accordance with WP:SUMMARY. The second (the list of honoured clubs) belongs on the Cup page too, since the clubs with the badge are precisely those which have kept the Cup permanently. The benefit of a separate page therefore seems zero. jnestorius(talk) 23:50, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- Does anybody care either way about this? If not, I'll re-merge in a few days. jnestorius(talk) 10:34, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
I've reorganised this because it wasn't obvious that the only clubs who got to wear the badge were those who'd got to keep the trophy. Tomcrocker (talk) 17:51, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
contradiction with article Franz Beckenbauer
This article contradicts the Franz Beckenbauer article because in this article, it says that as of 2006, no team has won 3 times to keep the trophy. In Franz Beckenbauer, it says, and I quote: "During Beckenbauer's tenure at Bayern Munich, the club won three league championships in a row from 1972 to 1974 and also an astonishing hat-trick of European Cup wins (1974-76) which earned the club the honour of keeping the trophy permanently." Where a hat-trick refers to three consecutive wins. I am not entirely sure which is true. --Programkid (talk) 18:08, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
- No team has won the UEFA Cup three teams in a row. Several teams have won the European Cup three times in a row. jnestorius(talk) 16:43, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
UEFA cup relevance?
Shouldn't the bit about keeping the UEFA cup be moved to the UEFA cup page. I see that it's linked to the badge of honour section but it's a bit off-topic. If no-one objects I'll move it in a bit. Tomcrocker (talk) 17:56, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Sure this is correct?
"Victories in the discontinued UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, held 1960–99, and Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, held 1955–71 outside the auspices of UEFA, are not counted for any current UEFA award." Are we sure about this, what about the UEFA Plaque? Under UEFA rules, this is awarded for any club that wins all of the three major UEFA tournaments (Champions Cup/Champions League, Cup Winners Cup and UEFA Cup/Europa League, Fairs Cup dosent count). As far as I am aware, this award was not discontinued with the demise of the Cup Winners Cup, and can still be awarded. RSSSF pages certainly imply this, and make the point that any club that did not win the Cup Winners Cup (such as Real Madrid or Liverpool) can never recieve the award in the future. So for instance, if Barcelona or Manchester United were to drop into the Europa League from the Champions League this season and went on to win that tournament, they would be awarded the plaque. Unless anyone has evidence to suggest otherwise, I think this section is inaccurate because clearly the Cup Winners Cup does still count towards a current UEFA award and should be changed. Any thoughts? MarkB79 (talk) 16:08, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
- Is this a real thing? The only reference I can find is "La Targa Uefa (prima squadra a vincere le tre coppe europee)" in La Gazzetta, which suggests it was a once-off plaque to Juve, not the start of a new award. Is there evidence of Ajax or Bayern getting something similar? I don't see anything on RSSSF or UEFA.com; the only Google results are Wikiclones and Juve fanblogs probably reading the Wikiclones. For comparison, Cafu got a presentation from FIFA when he appeared in his third World Cup Final, but I'm not aware that this was the inauguration of a new award available for future emulators. jnestorius(talk) 15:06, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
- The UEFA Plaque was an official UEFA football award. Google or RSSSF are not a holly Bible...--Dantetheperuvian (talk) 17:37, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
- I would be grateful if you could supply the evidence you have for this. jnestorius(talk) 07:24, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- Therefore, that information, according you, is false? Not everything that exists in the universe is available in google or RSSSF. --Dantetheperuvian (talk) 19:20, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- No, I'm not suggesting the information is false. Wikipedia can only include information if it is not merely true, but verifiably true, as explained in Wikipedia:Verifiability. I tried some basic searches to verify it and I failed. Clearly, you have access to a source that is slightly more difficult to find; so just tell us where you read about the UEFA Plaque and we will be able to verify it. jnestorius(talk) 19:27, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Replicas
"Winning clubs are also permitted to make replicas of their own; however, they must be clearly marked as such and can be a maximum of eighty percent the size of the actual trophy." - what happens if a club breaks this rule and sticks an exact replica in their trophy cabinet? --31.51.157.227 (talk) 08:13, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
