False positive

Hey Madman. I just wanted to let you know that there may be an issue with the bot tagging false positives. I recently created New York Central Tugboat 16, and it placed a tag there that said that it was copied directly from another site. I already raised the issue there for the editor who will revert the bot, but the issue was that the issues that are supposedly enough to tag are just preference for sharing the same prose, and there are really only two or three things that would warrant a tag, and they are five words long. I could flip words around to make it better, but I was wondering if there has been an issue in the past where the bots that do this task have tagged such small positives as this, or is it just a small fluke that I am making too much of a big deal out of. Thanks for the help! Kevin Rutherford (talk) 05:53, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't say false positives are a frequent issue. The bot has some technical limitations in the kind of analysis it can do; for example, it's restricted to analyzing a (relatively) small portion of the beginning of a Web page due to memory constraints. It's also important to note that its analysis is not the same kind of analysis that Duplication Detector does; they are two different kinds of tools. In any case, I apologize for the false positive. For almost all of the limitations I've identified in the code I inherited from Coren, I have planned improvements for the next version of this task, and I have high hopes for its efficacy. Thanks! — madman 04:45, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No problem! The bot's error actually has led to me cleaning out that category enough that there is no longer a backlog, so I guess it was a good thing at the day. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 02:12, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

False positive

False positive for article La Rumorosa. Please revise your bot to specifically exclude templates Robogun (talk) 20:22, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It does, but looking at the regular expression it uses, there may be an issue with nested templates (i.e., it ignored everything from {{Infobox settlement to {{flag|Egypt}}). I have added this to my TODO list for the next version. Thanks, — madman 20:26, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Was just about to post about this as well. If there's a way to whitelist http://hewgill.com/~greg/wikiblame/simple/Asyut.html, then that would be of great help, since i've seen about 6-8 in the past two weeks, and it's tiring noting all those false positives. False positive

I just merged a bunch of pages into List of Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue characters and the bot started yelling at me because it found a mirror of one of the old pages.—Ryulong (琉竜) 01:26, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Added to list of known Wikipedia mirrors [2]. Thank you! — madman 04:11, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Got one more for you to add: http://www.mnopedia.org; it's CC-BY-SA so acceptable to use. Wizardman 04:43, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
 Done. — madman 04:46, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Madman bot error

Just thought I'd let you know about this weird error. Instead of removing the name, it replaced with with a malformed entry. Regards, — Moe Epsilon 00:02, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
