Pacsafe is a brand engaged in the design, development, global marketing and distribution of smart travel gear with built-in innovative anti-theft technology. Pacsafe is headquartered in Hong Kong with offices in the United States, Germany, and China. The company's range of products include adventure backpacks, urban and leisure bags, women’s bags, photography bags, luggage and travel accessories such as straps, cables and locks.

History

Outpac Designs Limited, makers of Pacsafe, was established in 1998 in Hong Kong by two Australians.[1] Their inspiration behind the original Pacsafe product and travel security products came while travelling in South America, where they saw chicken wire put around bags to protect it against theft. Shortly afterwards, they created the slashproof wire cage system eXomesh, the Pacsafe 85L.[2] Pacsafe is a brand of smart travel gear with built-in innovative anti-theft technology.

From the Pacsafe 85L backpack & bag protector came three other sizes (55L,[3] 120L [4] and 140L [5]). By 2012, Pacsafe established 6 new collections in their range of adventure backpacks, urban and leisure bags, women’s bags, photography bags, luggage and travel accessories that all incorporate Pacsafe's innovative anti-theft technology. Today Pacsafe has expanded significantly with a broad range of anti-theft travel gear that spans across the globe, from the USA and Australia all the way to Europe and Hong Kong.

On April 9th, 2013, Pacsafe celebrated their 15 years in the anti-theft travel gear business.

Spirit behind the company

Pacsafe believes in the spirit of adventure. Getting off the beaten track and heading down the back alleys, free to explore possibilities and opportunities. But to tear up the map, to be spontaneous and to suck the marrow out of a travel experience, takes confidence. It takes a sense of security that only comes with knowing you have the right gear to outsmart the threats that may lay in wait. Pacsafe is company who are independent souls at heart.

Sponsorship

The Pacsafe brand was initially inspired by the turtle and its independent global wanderings. The turtle's shell representing the smart security that Pacsafe stands for in it's products. So in September 2012, Pacsafe took part and sponsored the Ecovision Asia's International Coastal Cleanup challenge in Hong Kong to help prevent sea turtles, marine mammals, seabirds and other animals from getting sick, injured or killed from dangerous items we allow into the sea.

Pacsafe supports projects such as the one for Eco-tourism and Conservation. They sponsored EOCA (European Outdoor Conservation Association)by providing Pacsafe products to assist the association with promoting the conservation of the ecosystem. Pacsafe supported projects such as the one for Eco tourism and Conservation in Rwanda. The project is titled - Strengthening Sustainable Ecotourism in and around Nyungwe National Park in Rwanda (SSENNP) or “Nyungwe Nziza” (Beautiful Nyungwe) Project. It was organized by Development Alternatives Inc. DAI. Camsafe camera bags were provided for journalists taking part in the project. Keeping their gear safe will allow them to tell the story of Nyungwe and Rwanda as they begin their explorations end of April 2013.

Pacsafe also believes in giving back to the community, such as the sponsorship of prizes to The Sovereign Art Foundation, a charity registered in Hong Kong and the UK that raises money to help disadvantaged children using the arts as rehabilitation, education and therapy.

It is a strong, lightweight, flexible, high-tensile, stainless steel, slashproof wire mesh which is used as a cage system (locks closed and secures to fixture with a heavy duty locking device) externally fitted to bags or laminated between fabric to form a bag and act as a slashguard.

Slashproof Carrysafe straps

Slashproof Carrysafe straps are adjustable and reinforced with a lightweight, flexible, high-tensile stainless steel wire to prevent opportunistic bag slashers from slicing through bag straps.

Smart ‘Turn & Lock’ Hooks and Dual Release Security buckles

Hooks with a special turning mechanism or dual release buckles that securely locks the strap to the bag, and can also be unfastened to wrap the strap and bag around a secure fixture.

Smart Zipper Security

Concealed zippers that are locked down and attached to clips to prevent thieves from accessing the bag.

ToughZip

A puncture resistant zipper that prevents luggage from being forced into using a ballpoint pen or similar object.

RFID blocking material

Radio-frequency identification (RFID) refers to technologies that use radio frequencies to automatically identify people or objects. RFID blocking material is made of special a rip-stop conductive fabric with other components that shields radio frequency transmissions. It is applied to pockets in Pacsafe bags and RFID-blocking wallets to prevent thieves from downloading sensitive personal information from passports, bank and credit cards with medium to high frequency transmissions (10MHZ-3GHZ).
