Biography
Early life and education
Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Tullian Tchividjian, as he is called, is the son of Virginia Leftwich (Gigi) Graham and Dr. Stephan Tchividjian, a clinical psychologist, who is of Swiss-Armenian ancestry. Tullian is the grandson of evangelists Billy and Ruth Graham.[3]
A graduate of Columbia International University (in philosophy), he earned an M.Div. degree at the Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando. He is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America.[2]
Career
Tchividjian was the founding pastor of New City Presbyterian Church, an Evangelical Presbyterian Church congregation. It had 600 members by the time it merged in April 2009 with Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, a mega-church of 2200 members in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Tchividjian had been called there as pastor in 2009.[3][4]
Tchividjian's opponents garnered enough support to force a congregational vote of confidence,[3] but a solid majority voted to retain him as pastor. Afterward, more than 400 members, including a large part of the music ministry, broke off to form "The New Presbyterian Church."[3]
Marriage and family
He married his wife Kim in 1994 and they have three children: Gabe, Nate, and Genna.
