No. 10: "An image with an unknown or unverifiable origin. I'm not sure if this image is historical. Anyway, the man died recently, so there should be plenty of images of him which aren't historical, so a historical image isn't needed. The author is specified in the watermark, although it is hard to read. Is the part beginning with "Éditions du" something which should make us suspect that the image may violate WP:NFCC#2? Thanks for dropping by, Stefan, as you understand WP:NFCC way better than I ever could. My personal research has shown that this is a publicity photo of the author that is likely used in some editions of a few of his books as well for articles about him. As for being historical, I always thought that meant the photo has some sort of historical significance. Too often it seems like files are uploaded of recently deceased and claimed to be "historical". -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 02:44, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
My interpretation of "historical" is that the image should be somewhat old, although I don't know how old. {{Non-free historic image}} tells that the image is a unique historical image (which suggests that the tag can't be used if there are multiple photos of the same thing), but the word "unique" is not present in WP:NFC#UUI. Also, I'm not sure how much we should care about the word "unique". For example, if a photographer takes two photos of the same thing, then neither photo is unique, but I'm not sure if that should affect how we use the photos. --Stefan2 (talk) 11:16, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
