God Eater 2 (ゴッドイーター2 Goddo Ītā 2) is an upcoming game being developed by Namco Bandai Games set for release in 2013 in Japan.[1] It will feature a new setting, as well as new protagonist, new monsters, and new weapons.[2]
Plot
The game takes place 3 years after Gods Eater Burst. A new pandemic caused by "Red Rain" has struck the Far East Branch. Members of Special Forces "Blood", an affiliate of Fenrir who reside in a mobile base, are sent to investigate.[3]
Gameplay
Like Gods Eater Burst, the gameplay is still intact, although there will be new features and additions to it.First is the "Blood Art System",in which is the evolution of blade attacks, which add additional effects to all manner of blade attacks (basic combos, aerial attacks, Impulse Edge, charged attacks etc.). Most are gained through natural usage of equipment, while some require specific missions to unlock them. Blood Arts are not tied to your equipment and can be seen as an evolution of the character. NPCs have their own missions separate from the storyline which when completed, grant them improved Blood Arts. There will be over 100 Blood Arts available in the game.[4] The second are missions called "Character Episodes",which allow the players to play as a character in a specified mission to unlock new Blood Arts for them.
Development
The game was first announced on September 15, 2011 during the annual gaming convention Tokyo Game show.[5]
On September 2011 during Famitsu interview, Yusuke Tomizawa, producer of God Eater, said "God Eater 2 was to pinpoint what users found fun about the game; we're taking it apart and reassembling it from scratch."[2]
A video trailer on God Eater 2's japanese website shows that the upcoming game gives the option for PSP and PSVita owners to play on a cooperative, multi-player mode with each other between platforms.
