The Garden of Words (言の葉の庭, Kotonoha no Niwa) is a 2013 Japanese anime film produced by CoMix Wave Films and directed by Makoto Shinkai.[1][2] The film premiered at the Gold Coast Film Festival in Australia on the 28th of April ahead of the Japanese theatrical release on the 31st of May.[3] The film was screened with an animated short called Dareka No Manazashi (だれかのまなざし).[4] The film has been licensed by Sentai Filmworks in North America.[5]
Plot
Takao, who is training to become a shoemaker, skipped school and is sketching shoes in a Japanese-style garden. He meets a mysterious woman who is older than him. Then, without arranging the times, the two start to see each other again and again, but only on rainy days. They deepen their relationship and open up to each other. But the end of the rainy season soon approaches …
