Damian Robert Chapa (born October 29, 1963) is an American actor, film director, and film producer.

Life and career

Chapa was born in Dayton, Ohio, USA but grew up in Robstown, Texas. His father was Mexican Italian and his mother has German and Cherokee Native American ancestry.[1] Among his earlier notable film roles are one of the leads in Taylor Hackford's Blood In Blood Out and the part of Ken Masters in the film adaptation of Street Fighter. He has directed and produced, in addition to starring in, his own films. These movies include 1998s Kill You Twice, 2000s The Lonely Life of Downey Hall, 2002s Man of Faith, 2004s Shade of Pale, 2004s El Padrino, and 2006s I.R.A.: King of Nothing.

Chapa co-wrote and directed Polanski Unauthorized, a biopic of Roman Polanski, in which he played the title role. It was released on February 13, 2009, in Los Angeles, California. He followed this with "Vatos Locos", starring himself. Chapa followed up the biopic with being the only person ever to play Marlon Brando in a movie.

Legal history

Rape Allegation

Damian Chapa was arrested in Germany and kept in custody for seven weeks when he made an attempt to see his son by former girlfriend Roxanna Foell. Chapa took legal action to gain visitation rights, in response to which Foell told police in Germany that the actor had raped her, and he was arrested when he attempted to enter the country.[2] Chapa denied the rape allegations and filed a lawsuit suing her for at least $1.3 million in damages.[3]
