David H. Hickman Senior High School is a public high school located in Columbia, Missouri.

Hickman, which serves grades 10 through 12, is a part of the Columbia Public Schools. Students in Grade 9 are allowed to take certain advanced courses that are not available at the local junior high schools.

Hickman is known for its mascot, the Kewpie aka the naked baby. The Kewpie was named the mascot of the school after the basketball team beat a team picked to win. The local newspapers wrote that the team came off the basketball court "smiling like kewpies." This was the early 1900s when kewpie dolls were popular across the country and were iconic items. As of 2005, the school had an enrollment of over 2,000 students, the largest in Missouri. The school is renowned for its excellent academic programs. Hickman has had more Presidential Scholars named than any other public high school in Missouri. Its literary journal, the Hickman Review, has received several prestigious national awards. Originally built on the country estate of David H. Hickman in 1927, the school has recently undergone a major renovation, the most notable additions being a brand new commons area, administrative office, and state-of-the-art language lab.The school retains a traditional 7-period schedule. A variety of classes are offered, from a wide variety of honors and AP courses, to various courses for all aspects of the arts, as well as courses specializing in vocational education.

The Hickman Tunnels [citation needed]

Many legends, both confirmed and unconfirmed, exist concerning the famous Hickman Tunnels. The most popular legend is that there is a tunnel from somewhere inside the school traveling to Jefferson Junior HIgh School. Many versions say that the tunnel is in a state of complete or partial disrepair, other state that it is still intact. The administration of the school officially denies that there is a tunnel, however, other persons of authority have confirmed that there was a one time a tunnel used for transporting steam, similar to those found on college campuses. Regardless of rumors and legends, there is an extensive system of basements, subbasements, and crawl-spaces that dot the high school campus.
