Hotel Urbano is an online travel agency, with focuses in Brazil and Latin America.[1][2][3][4][5] Paulo César Garcia Jr., Joao Ricardo Mendes, and José Eduardo Mendes launched Hotel Urbano in 2011.[1]

Funding

The company received it third round of venture capital funding in August 2013. The $20 million dollar investment was lead by Insight Venture Partners. Insight Venture Partners invested in both of the company’s previous rounds of financing in 2011 as well as its second round in 2012.[6] Hotel Urbano's Series C round of funding makes it one of the most heavily funded travel startups in Brazil.[7]

History

Hotel Urbano was launched in 2011. The company claims 15 million registered users and 7.7 million Facebook fans. With the upcoming 2014 World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympics, the company projects over $200 million in revenue in 2013.[8]
