UPS Airlines Flight 1354 was a scheduled cargo flight from Louisville International Airport to Birmingham–Shuttlesworth International Airport. On 14 August 2013, the aircraft flying this route, a UPS Airlines Airbus A300F4-622R, crashed and burst into flames short of the runway on approach to Birmingham–Shuttlesworth International Airport in the US state of Alabama.[1][2] The mayor of Birmingham has said both crew members died in the crash, but this has yet to be confirmed by the airport, the FAA, or UPS.[2][3][4]
Aircraft
The aircraft involved in the accident was an Airbus A300F4-622R, registered as N155UP. Built in 2003, it was delivered to UPS in February 2004 as a brand-new aircraft.[5][6] At the time of the accident, the aircraft had accumulated approximately 11,000 flight hours in 6,800 flight cycles (takeoff-and-landing sets).[2][7]
