Khairuddin (Khairi) bin Saleh bin Abdul Qadir bin Khader Al-Husseini Al-Alawi (1303-1376 AH / 1885-1957 AD) an Iraqi poet and a governor of several provinces.

Moving and Education

He was born in a village called Abu Saeda in Diyala Province from an Arabian father and a Turkish mother ، when he was five, he moved with his family to Baghdad where he learned writing and reading and a little bit of Quran but there were no enough learning for him in schools and Mosques ، and he couldn't enter to the military school ، and after three years he moved with his family to Amarahwhere he entered a school ، but they didn't stay there but one year until they went back to Abu Saeda village ، and then they moved to Diwaniyah where he learned grammar by Mustafa Al-Waez ، then he moved with his family to Afak where he continued to study Arabic language by someone called Hussein ، then they went back to Diwaniyah after a year and a half, he started to study by Alddin Al-Alusi. After the feeling of some of the writers who came from Basra to Najaf for appearing in the Nashefiyah meeting that the Arabic poetry needs more poets ، so Khairi studied by Jaafar Nassar then by Ali Al-Tareihi and then by Mohammed Al-Sammawi[1].

Family

His family goes back to Hashim ibn 'Abd Manaf the grandfather of prophet Mohammed. His grandfather Abdul Qadir was a friend of Abdul Ghaffar Al-Akhras ، and they called Khairi (Al-Hindawi) because his great grandfather, Khader was studying by an Indian scientist. Khairi's family were from Bab Al-Sheikh in Baghdad ، and his grandfather knew the biggest poets in Iraq because they were always calling the Khilani family for some money that they depend on ، and the grandfather of Khairi was an alcohol lover and a poetry lover ، his father also encouraged him to learn poetry and write it[2].

Life

When he was an employee in the company that is mentioned in the Careers section, his life began to get better and he had a good amount of money until he was called to join the military, so he forgot the relaxing lifestyle and started to feel the pain for the Ottoman military in the war, but they got him to prison after three years serving the military ، but when the English Army got closer from the Ottoman lands, the country started a great chaos so Khairi made his escape from prison to hide in his cousin's house ، so he felt desperate and sad that he wanted to commit suicide until Iraq became an English property, so he felt that the Jews are moving and being kind and lovely to the English army to steal the Iraqi land, so he appeared in a lot of meetings with big leaders in Iraq to try and win the British people, so Khairi wrote them a good article in a magazine called (Al-Moqtatif) ، because of that they employed him, but he didn't last long because he got expelled to Hengam Island because of a popular movement versus the British occupation, after nine month he came back to achieve great success in his job, plus gaining the trust of The Iraqi Kingdom government, specially Faisal I, he was like a friend to him. until he retired at 1949 to live at his house in Adhamiyah and write poetry and prose and creating his collection of poems, but he got a really sick heart for six years until he died at 1957, so they buried him in Al-Najaf as so he said at his wish[3].
