Camille and Kennerly Kitt are identical twin American actresses and electric/acoustic harpists, who compose, arrange, and perform as The Harp Twins.[1]

Careers

Harp Twins

Camille and Kennerly comprise an internationally performing rock Harp Duo “The Harp Twins".[2] They are most well known for their duet arrangements of contemporary songs from artists including Iron Maiden, The Rolling Stones, Metallica, Lady Gaga, Led Zeppelin, Blue Oyster Cult, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Rihanna, Guns N' Roses, U2, Coldplay and Journey.[3] They performed at the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial at a dinner for US President Barack Obama[4] and at events for former Vice President Dick Cheney, former First Lady Laura Bush, and former Speaker of the US House Dennis Hastert.[1] The Harp Twins performed on both days of the Cusp Conference 2011 at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago.[5][6] In March 2012, Camille and Kennerly played their harps at a private party in San Francisco honoring French haute couture fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier and to celebrate the opening of his exhibit "The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk" at the De Young Museum.[7][8]

The Harp Twins’ have posted 45 music videos on YouTube currently totaling over 11 million views.[9] The June 2013 issue of Metal Hammer featured an interview article about the Harp Twins, titled "Harp Attack!", and labeled them a "Hot New Band".[10] The CBS blogger Bailey Johnson called their Zombie (The Cranberries) arrangement as “elegant, wistful and an excellent tribute to a classic track” and “the eerie ‘Zombie’ is a perfect fit for Camille and Kennerly’s lilting harp skills.”[11] Huffington Post arts reporter Mallika Rao said of their Game of Thrones duet electric harp video: “Yes, there have been other attempts to cover Ramin Djawadi's haunting tune before, but this one is now the only one.”[12] In August 2013, the Kitt Twins received particularly significant worldwide media attention.[13][14]

Camille and Kennerly perform on Venus “Classic” Concert Grand pedal harps[15] and Lyon & Healy “Silhouette” Electric lever harps.[3]

Acting

The Kitts portray Vince Vaughn's biological daughters in the 2013 DreamWorks film Delivery Man.[16] Camille and Kennerly portrayed "The Merry Christians" in the film Politics of Love, directed by William Dear, and "The Marcelli Twins" in the dark teen comedy blacktino, produced by Elizabeth Avellan.[17] Blacktino premiered on opening night of the 2011 SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas.[18] Politics of Love was released in limited US theaters August 26, 2011, and then went to VOD and DVD in September, 2011.[19]

The Kitt Twins have also had principal roles in commercials including a US commercial for the Toshiba Tablet “Thrive” and a Chupa Chups Lollipops Japanese commercial.[20]

Biography

The twins began playing piano as children, followed by the harp in junior high school. They earned money for their first harp by taking on jobs such as babysitting and dog-walking in order to show their mom they were serious about playing the harp. Their first harp was a pre-owned lever harp.[4]

Both sisters hold a Bachelor of Music degree in Harp Performance and graduated with highest honors at Wheaton College Conservatory of Music.[21] They are also third degree black belts in Taekwondo, and former Tae Kwon Do instructors. The twins are also Distinguished Experts in rifle marksmanship and were competitive swimmers for many years.[21][22]
