Chomedey is a neighbourhood in the western part of Laval and was a separate city until the 1965 municipal mergers.

It has been the home of the city's anglophone minorities, notably Greeks and Jews. It voted overwhelmingly to not separate in the 1995 Quebec referendum and was in the center of a spoiled ballot controversy, as it had 11.7 % of its total ballots spoiled.

Chomedey has been rated ninth among the best borough of the Montreal area (in front of Côte-des-Neiges, Outremont and Parc extension) in the popular "Best of Montreal" readers poll 2006 of the Mirror paper.

The postal codes for this area are H7T, H7V and H7W.
