Sanam Saeed (born 30 November 1986, London) is a Pakistani British actress and model. She is best known for her roles in serial Daam, Mera Naseeb, Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu and Zindagi Gulzar Hai. She made her Lollywood debut with 2013 Mehreen Jabbar's Dil Mera Dharkan Teri for which she won Tarang Housefull Awards for Best Supporting Actress.

Early life

Saeed was born into a Muslim family in London, England, and shifted to Karachi, Pakistan in 1991 with her family when she was 6 years old. She currently holds a Pakistani nationality as she is not eligible to hold a British one, according to 1983 UK immigration law.

Saeed did her O-level from Bay View High School Karachi and A-level from L'Ecole College.[2]

Career

Modeling

Sanam started modeling when she was 16. As a teenager, she did not enjoy modeling. As she explains: "I was too young to be caught up in the industry, therefore seldom did shows. "As an adult, she grew more confident and found modeling more enjoyable". She has appeared in many commercials.[3] She has won L'Oreal Paris Award for Best Model. In Paper Magazine, Saeed confessed that the reason she quit modelling was due to her increasingly becoming conscious about her looks for the first time in her life.[4]

Singing

She later contributed vocals to the popular music show Coke Studio Pakistan as a background singer.[5]

Acting

She started her acting career with the ARY Digital serial, Daam opposite Aamina Sheikh and Sanam Baloch. She later appeared in the Hum TV serial Mera Naseeb, along with Syra Yousuf, Imran Aslam and Imran Abbas Naqvi where her character Shazia was acclaimed by the critics and public. Sanam continues to work in Pakistani television serials, her second serial was Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu, opposite Junaid Khan and Sarwat Gilani on Hum TV. She then acted in Express Entertainment serial Talkhiyan based on Arundhati Roy's novel The God of Small Things, in which she played the role of Christian women. In the same year, she appeared in Hum TV's Zindagi Gulzar Hai along with Fawad Khan which proved to be her biggest role yet making her a famous actress across the country. Her acting was very much well praised in Zindagi Gulzar Hai along with her chemistry with her co-star Fawad Khan.

Since 2013, she has been starring in Hum TV serial Kadoorat opposite Angeline Malik, Momal Sheikh, Junaid Khan and Imran Aslam. She is also appearing in Geo TV serial Ek Kasak Reh Gaye alongside Mikaal Zulfiqar and Javed Sheikh. She also appeared in an Eid special telefilm Kahin Chand Na Sharma Jaye opposite Goher Mumtaz on Hum TV.

Saeed is currently working in her upcoming serial Shukk which will be air on ARY Digital.

Film debut

She made her film debut with Mehreen Jabbar's Dil Mera Dharkan Teri (remake of Waheed Murad's 1968 film with the same name. She starred opposite Ahsan Khan and Sarwat Gillani, and won Tarang Housefull Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Musical theater

Sanam has worked for Made for Stage Productions in three musicals: Chicago, Mamma Mia! an Dhaani.[6]
