The Palm Beach International Polo Club is one of the largest polo clubs in the world, and is located in Wellington, Florida. The club includes several natural grass polo fields, two of which are part of stadiums.

History

The club was founded by John B. Goodman and patron of Isla Carrol polo team, after being a respected long time sponsor of the sport. Goodman got involved in a DUI crash which resulted in the death of the other driver. In 2012 Goodman adopted his longtime girlfriend, Laruso Hutchins—one year his junior—as his legal daughter. This was done in a move to shield his assets in an impending trial for his part in the vehicular death of a young man.[1]

Amenities

The main stadium seats around 5,000 with box seating making it the largest structure for viewing polo in the world. It is used for the finals in polo tournaments and as the home venue for United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League side the Palm Beach Pumas. PBIPC is a major sponsor of the Pumas. The Club has 7 polo fields, an Olympic pool, a spa and fitness center, and a large bar area known as the "7th Chukker". it also has two tennis courts and a tennis pavilion, a wine room, and the largest collection of polo books on earth. The restaurant seats 120 and has been named The Mallet Grill after its famous mallet sculpture centerpiece, designed by the club's designer, M. Maison.
