Livefyre (pronounced live-fire) is a technology company that helps bloggers, publishers, and brands create online communities through conversation and social media curation. It’s built to bring the social network experience to websites and increase visitor interaction with content. They are based in San Francisco.

Livefyre Community is the company’s product built for bloggers and small publishers. It includes Livefyre Community Comments, a free comments application now used by tens of thousands of bloggers.

StreamHub is Livefyre’s enterprise option for digital publishers, entertainment companies and brands. StreamHub:Core brings the social web experience to any site through a suite of real-time applications like Live Blog and Live Chat that keep audiences online. And StreamHub:Curate allows publishers and brands to curate content from around the social web in real-time.[1]

The company's newest commenting platform, Livefyre Comments 3, was launched in July 2012 and builds on its previous technology.

Livefyre customers include bloggers as well as leading media companies such as The New York Times, News International, AOL Tech, FOX Entertainment Group and NBC Universal.

History

Livefyre was launched by Jordan Kretchmer and Henry Arlander in December 2009. It began as a commenting platform for bloggers and is now a real-time conversation and social curation platform used by more than 600 enterprise customers.

In October, 2011 Livefyre raised 4.5 million from Greycroft Partners and digital media investors Cue Ball, HillsVen Group, and ff Venture Capital.[2]

In February, 2013 Livefyre raised 15 million in its series C funding, led by U.S. Venture Partners (USVP) and including all previous investors.

In August, 2013 Livefyre launched its Social Native Ad Solutions group.

Accomplishments

Since its launch, Livefyre has pioneered a number of features including: Social Sync, which integrates comments from Facebook and Twitter in a comment stream; Comment Notifiers, a bubble in the comment stream alerts the user to a new comment with a bubble featuring the user’s avatar and a preview of the comment; Friend Tagging, Liverfyre allows users to tag/mention friends and followers from Facebook, Twitter and Livefyre handle with the option to notify friends by posting to their Facebook timelines and @ mentioning them on Twitter.[3]

Headquarters

Livefyre is headquartered in San Francisco, with additional offices in San Diego, New York City, London and Sydney.

Growth

Livefyre is currently the 5th largest online network,[4] reaching more than 129 million people and delivering over 1 billion live content streams every month with 10 million registered users. As of August, 2013 it had 90 employees.[5]
