About Me...
I am a 32-year old software engineer, here on occasion to try and add (and delete, when required) a thing or two. I'm originally from Asheville, North Carolina, but now live in Upstate New York.
In the "real world", I'm a big fan of motorcycles, especially Harley-Davidsons and Triumphs. I currently ride a 2001 Harley-Davidson Sportster XLH1200, on which I have performed some fairly extensive modifications myself (the picture shows the bike in its "before" state, with the exception of the forward controls). I am also an avid (but bad) golfer. Neither of these activities lend themselves very well to Central New York, but...
Before going to college at Western Carolina University, I was in the U.S. Air Force as a Communications-Computer Systems Operator. During my time in the service, I was able to visit many interesting places. I was stationed in Balikesir, Turkey for a year. I also spent a total of about two months in Egypt, visiting both Cairo and Alexandria. Most of the other countries I have listed were more-or-less stopovers (with the exception of Canada), but I can say I was there. Canada is only about 2 hours from where I am now, so I've been in the Niagara Falls area quite a lot.
In the "Wiki world", I revert vandalism on sight, and have recently started using VandalProof. I also frequently check new page creations, where I try to improve articles that seem improvable, and nominate blatant spam and vandalism for deletion. I consider myself to be neutral, neither an inclusionist nor a deletionist, but I have a very low opinion of autobiographical, vanity, or self-promotional articles, and find it very tempting to nominate articles of this nature for deletion.
I am a firm believer in civility in all actions within Wikipedia...rational discussion is the only way any of this is going to work.
Etymology of "Bugwit"
In case anyone is wondering, there is a story behind the name "Bugwit". When I first opened an account on Wikipedia in January of 2006, I started out as Bugturd, which was the word that popped into my head the first time I saw my mom's dog, "Gizmo", (a chihuahua). After a few edits, the question was brought up as to whether or not my username of choice violated username guidelines, being somewhat scatological. Rather than stir up trouble to defend the name, which would have been far more trouble than it was worth, I decided to change it to "Bugwit", which is a word I picked up from Stephen King's character Sheemie Ruiz, from The Dark Tower series. So, that's the super-exciting, gripping story of my username...aren't you glad you stuck around for that?
