Jitan Ram Manjhi is a minister in Government of Bihar . He was elected to Bihar Legislative Assembly from Makhdumpur in Jahanabad district as a candidate of Janata Dal (United)and now he has to apponted as chief mimister of bihar after resignation of nitish kumar on 20/05/2014.[1] He recently lost 2014 Lok Sabha elections[2]

Manjhi is considered a close confidant of Bihar Chief Minister and JDU supremo Nitish Kumar. Following the party's poor showing in the 2014 general election, Nitish tendered his resignation as chief minister, accepting moral responsibility for the defeat. Manji, the minister for SC and ST welfare in Nitish's cabinet, is likely to replace him as chief minister.
