Requests for registration

Please read the guide on the main page before requesting permission. In applying for AWB access, you indicate that you will abide by its terms.

Also, this page is for requesting AWB Access for this wiki (English Wikipedia) only. Other projects have their own check pages and you should ask administrators there to add you.

Please add your name to the bottom of the appropriate list (user or bot) on this page below using *{{AWBUser|your username}} ~~~~~. Enter your user name exactly as the software displays it, for example in the 'Basic information' section of your preferences. Do not use underscores instead of spaces or change the case of the first letter. Note that all usernames begin with an uppercase letter or a symbol.

If the list contains undecided entries that are over 48 hours old, please change {{noadminbacklog}} to {{adminbacklog}} at the top of this page.

Note that users with under 500 mainspace non-automated edits are rarely approved. You can check your contributions in each namespace at Toolserver. You only need to give a reason for wanting AWB access if you have fewer than 500 mainspace non-automated edits. Administrators are automatically approved and do not need to list themselves.

If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage. If you will make many or fast automated edits using AWB, you may wish to use a separate (or bot) account for the purpose.

  • What do you actually intend using AWB for? The grammar and syntax in your writing needs improvement, but you may be wanting AWB for some other purpose, so you can give a more definite purpose to show how the capability will help you and Wikipedia. • Let's keep the record straight. I answered all questions posed by Graeme Bartlett et al. honestly, yet they sat on my request without action for weeks. During the past month I have made 1860 edits without AWB, so clearly it's not an essential tool. Therefore, I am withdrawing my request. LukasMatt (talk) 23:33, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I became aware of the WP:CHECKWIKI project and the AWB notation on some apparently automated edits from diffs noted in my watchlist, of course. I've just been visiting the project pages and their lists of common errors to make sure of what errors to avoid as I expand and create more articles, and better to appreciate what an automated editing tool can do to reduce error rates in article text. I hand-edited one article on the list of articles with incorrect heading markup for practice. That made clear that actual human judgment is required for effective use of AWB. -- WeijiBaikeBianji (talk, how I edit) 14:47, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bots

Please only list approved/trial approved bots here and add a link to your bot approval at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval.

Vanished users

Does anyone know why we have three vanished users here? I assume they are not using AWB, and so do not need to be on the list. It look as as if User:ListManBot is doing this. [1] Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:19, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

ListManBot has a task to fix the entries of users, who change their username. I don't think vanished users should remain on the list, as by vanishing they dediced not to edit. Armbrust The Homunculus 10:29, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed them. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 01:22, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
