FG Capital Management, Ltd. is an American investment management firm based in New York, New York[1] that focuses on emerging markets from equity investments to debt restructuring.[2]
Solutions
FG Capital Management investigates and exposes financial fraud as part of it management of distressed assets. FG Capital's also engages the media politicians, governments, and international organizations to expose and combat corruption.[3]
FG Hemisphere Associates
FG Hemisphere Associates is a "special-purpose vehicle" managed by FG Capital. It was set up to purchase sovereign debt claims where countries, rich in natural resources, had too little revenue from these resources ending up in the national treasury. FG Hemisphere states that "these countries were suffering from lack of proper management, not a lack of resources" while emphasizing "governance and transperency reforms will recapture this lost revenue for the public coffers."[2]
Democratic Republic of Congo
FG Capital Management sued the Democratic Republic of Congo for $100 million after acquiring debts owed to Bosnian state company Energoinvest for $2.6 million. Former Bosnian prime minister, Nedzad Brankovic approved the deal and was investigated on corruption charges during his stint at EnergoInvest.[4]
