Woqooyi Galbeed ([Woqooyi Galbeed] Error: {{Lang-xx}}: text has italic markup (help), Arabic: وقويي جالبيد), currently known asMaroodi Jeex, is an administrative region (gobol) in northwestern Somaliland. It is situated in the De facto Republic of Somaliland [2]
Overview
Maroodi jeex is bordered by Ethiopia to the south, the Somaliland regions of Gabiley, Saaxil and daadmadheedh, and the Gulf of Aden. The highest point in the region is Mount gaanlibah (2004 meters), which rises east of Hargeisa.The capital of maroodi jeex is Hargeisa.
Districts
The Woqooyi Galbeed region consists of two
districts [3]
Formerly known as woqooyi Galbeed, it was later renamed Maroodi Jeex by the Somaliland government, its currently comprimises the capital "Hargeisa" and Salahley districts. during the Muhammad Haji Ibrahim Egal term berbera was made the capital of sahil region, in 2008 Gabiley became regional capital of the newly created Gabiley region by Dahir Rayale's UDUB government.
